Breathwork to Strengthen the Lungs.

Simple Breathing Exercise to Strengthen the Lungs:

1. Sit in a comfortable position.

2. Relax and place your hands on your chest. Take a few deep breaths and feel your awareness shift to the present moment.

3. Inhale and visualize white light filling up your lungs. White is the healing color for the lungs.

4. On your exhale, make the sound “Sssss” (sounds like the second part of a hiss). This is the healing sound for the lungs. With every exhale, think of something you’d like to let go of. Particularly any grief or sadness that you may be feeling.

5. Repeat 9 times. Once you finish the ninth round, relax your hands to your lap and take a few moments of silence, sitting in the essence of the lung sound.

Practice this exercise whenever you have a tight chest, are feeling grief and sadness, or want to strengthen your lungs. This exercise is also something you can practice daily in the fall to stay balanced.
